Becoming a Patient
First-time patients (with the exception of emergency-care patients and those referred to our specialty clinics) must be evaluated in the Center for Diagnostic Services on the first floor of the Norris Dental Science Center.
No appointment is necessary.
The Center screens patients Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. only. The Center is closed on Fridays. Morning registration begins at 7 a.m. Each session, 15 patients—seen according to arrival order—will be screened. Early arrival may increase your chances of being screened.
The initial evaluation cost is $88 and includes an exam, all necessary X-rays, study models, and a treatment plan. The evaluation fee is non-refundable.
Once you are evaluated, you will be assigned to a student within a particular group practice, overseen by one of our faculty. The group practice director is responsible for overseeing the treatment plan for each patient. It usually takes 2 to 4 weeks after your initial screening to be assigned to a student. You will be contacted to set up your appointment.
You also may become a patient of one of the school’s faculty practices. The cost is comparable to the going rates of private dental practices and approximately three times the cost of care provided in our student clinics.
Incoming Patient Paperwork
We encourage prospective patients to print and fill out incoming patient paperwork to speed up the check-in process.
Please note that bringing filled-out paperwork does not guarantee prospective patients access to a dental professional at the Ostrow School of Dentistry.
