What’s been the most surprising aspect of dental school for you so far?

“The skills we are learning are not developed overnight, and it takes a lot of time, effort and practice to master these skills. Also, if you don’t master a certain skill while you’re in a specific class it’s OK because you continue to get better as time goes on. Also, teeth are very small, so when you first start school, you think you’re never going to be able to see the difference between 1 mm and 2 mm, but you learn. Then before you know it, you can tell the difference between .5 mm and .65 mm!”

Colby McKinney,
DDS Class of 2016
