USC Research Resources

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee assists research faculty in preparing proposals and carrying out safe and humane animal-based research and teaching activities at Ostrow and across USC.

The Office for the Protection of Research Subjects and USC’s Human Subjects Protection Program review projects involving human subjects to ensure that protocols are followed for safe and effective studies.

Ostrow Research Resources

WILSON DENTAL LIBRARY

The Jennifer Ann Wilson Dental Library and Learning Center provides information resources and support primarily for the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC faculty, staff and students and selectively for the general oral healthcare community and the public. Library services are designed to anticipate and to be responsive to information needs for teaching, learning, research and healthcare.

CENTER FOR CRANIOFACIAL MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

CCMB is a research laboratory located on the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. This group has established an outstanding record of research accomplishments, making significant new discoveries in areas, including molecular genetics of tooth development, molecular etiology of cleft lip and cleft palate and rescue, enamel matrix formation and biomineralization, stem cell-mediated craniofacial tissue regeneration and much more.

Interdisciplinary Initiatives

Addressing complex health issues requires collaboration across disciplines, across campus and across the country. Ostrow actively contributes to the major research initiatives designated by USC leadership for campus-wide focus.

PARTICIPATING FACULTY
JANET OLDAK
MALCOLM SNEAD

Ostrow integrates nanoscience and medicine to detect disease as early as possible, treat it using best practices, and restore and regenerate function through the development and deployment of devices, systems and materials at the nanoscale.

PARTICIPATING FACULTY
REYES ENCISO
STEPHEN YEN

Ostrow develops multimodal imaging techniques to reveal the anatomical and functional characteristics of living organisms and to design new paradigms for understanding the development, treatment and prevention of disease.

Ostrow cultivates new knowledge in the laboratory that is then translated to clinical research and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. These efforts include collaborations with the Southern California-Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

Ostrow is an active participant in the Health Collaborative, a university-wide forum that fosters interdisciplinary research, education and networking in health and related fields.

PARTICIPATING FACULTY
GLENN CLARK
ROSEANN MULLIGAN

Ostrow is a key part of the Urban Initiative, which develops solutions to the complex political, economic, social, technological and environmental challenges that confront metropolitan regions.
