Mobile Dental Clinic Featured in North County Times

The August 10 issue of the North County Times featured the USC Mobile Dental Clinic, the flagship community outreach program of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

The Mobile Dental Clinic received $50,000 from the San Diego County Office of Education’s migrant education division to pay for a week-long clinic at Lincoln Middle School with federal money set aside for students from low-income families.

Santosh Sundaresan, assistant professor of clinical dentistry and interim director of the Mobile Dental Clinic, said the ultimate goal is to teach the students and their families how to avoid dental problems in the future.

“There’s a need, the need is abundant, and we’re hoping to make a difference,” Sundaresan said.
