Clinical training for Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC students will become even more state-of-the-art thanks to an unprecedented donation from dental equipment company Bien-Air USA, Inc.
Bien-Air USA will donate and install 308 new electric handpiece systems in clinics and simulation laboratories throughout the school. The in-kind donation is worth more than $1 million and will give the Ostrow School of Dentistry one of the biggest sets of electric handpiece systems of any dental school in the nation.
“We are proud to work with Bien-Air to provide our students with the most advanced clinical equipment possible,” said Ostrow School of Dentistry Dean Avishai Sadan. “This is the technology they will one day use in their own clinical practices, so it is crucial for them to become experienced with it starting on their very first day of dental school.”
Electric handpiece systems offer a number of important improvements compared to their compressed air-driven predecessors. The ultra-modern dental tools make dentists’ work simpler and faster with increased power and better speed control, while patients experience significantly less noise and vibration during their treatment.
“This avant-garde technology offers exceptional ergonomics and unmatched performance, ” said Arthur Mateen, general manager of Bien-Air USA. “We are very proud to partner with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in providing the latest equipment for the training of future dentists.”
