INITIATIVES

undefinedFor many years the School of Dentistry has been intimately involved in reducing disparities in oral health - not only in services, but also in education and practice.  Whether through exposing underrepresented minority elementary and high school students to the profession or through scholarships and support during their education, the school has always remained proactive in closing the gap through a mutli-faceted approach.

Launched in 2001, the Pipeline, Profession and Practice program - initiated by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and expanded to all California dental schools by the California Endowment - led to a robust expansion in strategic initiatives and activities aimed at recruiting and supporting under represented minority students.

Current initiatives include:

California Endowment – Profession, Practice, Pipeline Grant
Dental Explorers
Medical Magnet High Schools
DAT/Summer Enrichment Program
Scholarships for Under Represented Minority Students
