Joanne Mayne Memorial

Joanne Mayne Memorial
Endowed Scholarship

The USC School of Dentistry is announcing the creation of the Joanne Mayne Memorial Endowed Scholarship. Joanne passed away in July 2008, leaving behind a powerful legacy of dedication to USC.

In 1967 Joanne received her bachelors from USC, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Always intensely dedicated to her alma mater, she began her employment at the University in 1980. She worked at USC for the next 28 years, 25 of those at the School of Dentistry, serving as Associate Dean and Executive Director of Development. Under Joanne's guidance, Dentistry was always one of USC's strongest centers of fundraising. All of the School's great campaigns – the Millennium Campaign, Building on Excellence and the Rex Ingraham Clinic renovation – flourished under her directorship.

Joanne was a great leader of the active alumni and donors. She organized their support organizations, put together activities like the semi-annual ocean cruises, and raised millions of dollars for the School supporting student scholarships, faculty professorships, renovations, research and patient care.

Joanne was a member of her own personal "Trojan family." Her father, mother and both her sons all went to USC. Joanne's parents, Herb and Marjorie Klein, graduated in 1940 and 1941 respectively. Her sons Michael and Chris received their degrees in 1998 and 1999.

The Joanne Mayne Memorial Endowed Scholarship is off to a fine start. Thanks to good friends like Scott Adishian, John Aschieris, Edward Cainglit, Vivian Chui and Gary Harmatz the fund is already growing.

Please consider joining us in honoring the memory of Joanne Mayne. This is just a small step we can take toward repaying her for tireless efforts on behalf of USC.
