USC Mobile Dental Clinic at 2010 Remote Area Medical Los Angeles

By Monday, May 3, 2010, more than 6000 people will have received medical, dental and vision care completely free of charge during the Remote Area Medical free clinic in Los Angeles. Free dental care has proven to be a huge need, with many patients citing last year’s cuts to adult dental benefits in Medi-Cal as their reason for seeking free care at the event.

The USC Mobile Dental Clinic, the flagship community outreach program of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, is providing care at the event. While the Mobile Dental Clinic is well known for traveling throughout California to provide care, this time the student and faculty volunteers are serving their neighbors in USC’s own backyard at the LA Sports Arena.

“For a lot of these people, this is the one time this year for them to get care that they need that they can’t get outside,” said Matt Eggenberger, DDS 2010 and a volunteer with the Mobile Clinic.
